🩺 New Express Entry Draw for Physicians With Canadian Experience

Physicians with recent Canadian work experience just saw one of the lowest Express Entry cut-offs of 2026 — but it applies to a very specific group. On September 3, 2026, IRCC ran Express Entry draw #440 under the category for physicians with Canadian work experience. In this round, 229 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued, and the minimum CRS score was 198. This was the third physician-only draw in 2026, and the cut-off dropped from 223 in the previous round held on June 24. To be considered in this draw, candidates needed to first qualify for at least one Express Entry program and then meet the category criteria: at least 12 months of full-time Canadian work experience (or an equivalent amount of part-time) in the last three years in a single eligible NOC — 31100 (specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine), 31101 (specialists in surgery), or 31102 (general practitioners and family physicians). The experience could be non-continuous, but it had to be gained in Canada in one of these occupations and satisfy all requirements in the round instructions. A CRS score of 198 in this context only applied to candidates who already met both Express Entry and physician-category requirements, and an ITA is still just the beginning. IRCC will review program eligibility, work history, CRS points, documents and admissibility before making a permanent residence decision.
