📌 Ontario OINP Overhaul: What Workers & Employers Need To Know

Ontario has overhauled its provincial immigration program for workers and employers – and the old OINP streams many people knew are gone. Ontario has closed eight previous OINP worker streams and launched a new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream with a single Expression of Interest (EOI) system. The new stream covers job offers in Ontario across TEER 0–3 and TEER 4–5 occupations, as well as a separate pathway for eligible self‑employed physicians. The EOI portal for this new stream is now open. Selection is now more competitive and less predictable. Factors can include TEER category, work experience, education, language level, wage, legal status in Canada, and work location in Ontario. For most TEER 0–3 occupations you now need at least CLB 6, for certain skilled trades CLB 5, and for TEER 4–5 CLB 4, with limited exceptions for some recent Ontario graduates. Meeting minimum criteria or having a high EOI score does not guarantee an invitation, and Ontario can run targeted draws by occupation, region, and labour‑market needs. If you had a previous EOI that never received an invitation, it has been withdrawn under the redesign and you need to register a new profile under the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream.
