🎯 Got an ITA? Why “Accept” Is Not Always the Next Click

Receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) is exciting — but clicking “Apply” without a careful review can put your permanent residence application at risk.

Receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) is exciting — but clicking “Apply” without a careful review can put your permanent residence application at risk. After an ITA under Express Entry, you have 60 days to submit your application for permanent residence. In that time, IRCC expects every detail in your profile to be fully supported by documents: your NOC choice and job duties, work history, education, language results, and more. If the points you claimed are not actually supported — for example, the wrong NOC code or overstated work experience — this can lead to a refusal, and in serious situations, even findings of misrepresentation. If you discover a material mistake that affects your eligibility or CRS score, it may be safer to decline the ITA and correct your profile, rather than proceed with an application that is likely to be refused. On the other hand, if you are unsure whether an error is minor or serious, a detailed review of your NOC selection, reference letters, and personal history can help you understand your real level of risk before you decide. At ATA Immigration, we regularly review Express Entry profiles and draft applications with clients who have ITAs and are uncertain about their next step. We can help you identify red flags, clarify what IRCC typically looks for, and give you a clearer picture of your options based on your documents and history. 📚 Learn more about Canadian immigration pathways and Express Entry: https://www.ataimmigration.com/immigration-canada 📝 Need your ITA file or Express Entry profile reviewed before you submit: https://www.ataimmigration.com/service-page/review-consultation-2 📅 Prefer to discuss your situation one-on-one: https://www.ataimmigration.com/book-online
