Thinking about immigrating to Canada as a skilled worker and keep hearing about “Express Entry” — but not sure what actually happens step by step? Express Entry is Canada’s main system for managing permanent residence applications from skilled workers. While it can feel complicated at first, it follows a clear sequence: first, you check whether you qualify under at least one federal program (Federal Skilled Worker, Canadian Experience Class, or Federal Skilled Trades). Next, you prepare key documents like language test results, an educational credential assessment (if needed), work experience records, and identity documents before creating your online profile. When you submit your profile, the system assigns you a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on your education, language, work experience, and other factors. You then enter the Express Entry pool and wait to see if IRCC invites you to apply for permanent residence through a draw. Being in the pool does not guarantee an Invitation to Apply (ITA), and if you do receive one, you usually have 60 days to submit a complete PR application. IRCC is already exploring possible updates to Express Entry, including a potential new structure for federal programs, with consultations expected in 2026. For now, nothing has changed — current rules and procedures continue to apply. If you are planning your pathway, ATA Immigration can help you understand how the current system works, where your profile may fit, and what documents you should prepare before you take the next step. 📚 Learn more about Canadian immigration pathways: https://www.ataimmigration.com/immigration-canada 🧾 Considering Express Entry and need clarity on your options: https://www.ataimmigration.com/service-page/initial-consultation-general 📅 Book a consultation at a time that works for you: https://www.ataimmigration.com/book-online
