Ontario has just overhauled its provincial immigration program — and the old Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program streams are now closed.
As of June 26, 2026, Ontario announced a major redesign of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The former 8 streams are being removed, the Expression of Interest (EOI) system is closed to new profiles, and no further invitations will be issued under the previous streams. Existing EOIs and job offers that never received an invitation are expected to be withdrawn in the coming weeks, while applications already submitted will be assessed under the rules that applied at the time they were filed.
Ontario is introducing a new Ontario Workforce Priority stream, expected to cover all TEER 0–5 occupations plus a pathway for self‑employed physicians. Early details suggest TEER 0–3 applicants may need a full-time permanent job offer, language at roughly CLB 6 (or CLB 5 for some roles), and post‑secondary education, while TEER 4–5 may require about 9 months of work with the job-offer employer, CLB 4, and at least a secondary school diploma or equivalent. Final criteria and portal access are expected later this summer, and requirements may still change.
If you had an OINP EOI, a job offer in Ontario, or were planning to apply based on the old streams, it is important not to assume that your previous strategy will still work. Your NOC/TEER, language scores, education, work experience, and employer eligibility should be reviewed against the new direction of the program. ATA Immigration can help you reassess your Ontario PNP options in light of these changes and prepare for the new intake when details are confirmed.
